Nurmi, an import forward who was drafted in the fourth round (113th overall) by the Islanders in the 2023 NHL Draft, spent last season with the Knights as a key contributor in their Memorial Cup championship season, scoring 31 points (9 goals, 22 assists) in 58 games and playing a crucial role on the penalty kill.
Now an overager in the OHL, the native of Finland will look to build upon his success in London from last season, after playing 12 games for the Islanders’ ECHL affiliate, the Worcester Railers, this season, recording a goal and an assist. While the Knights are already a solid scoring team, ranking 7th in the OHL with 123 goals scored, Nurmi will be expected to boost that number while providing a steady two-way game.
Nurmi has represented Finland multiple times throughout his career, helping the nation to a Silver medal in Ottawa at the 2025 World Juniors, recording five points in seven games.
