Sunday Highlights: Pair clinch playoffs

Two more clubs clinched playoffs spots with victories on Sunday, bringing the OHL total to 12 teams that have secured postseason berths.
The Kingston Frontenacs became the sixth Eastern Conference team to punch their playoff ticket as Sam Bennett and Lawson Crouse teamed up to lead them over the London Knights 4-3. Bennett finished the afternoon with a goal and two assists while Crouse had three helpers. The Frontenacs managed to outshoot London 48-23 as they return to the OHL Playoffs for the third straight season. Watch
Kitchener’s Jake Paterson shut out his old Saginaw Spirit teammates, making 31 saves in a 3-0 victory as the Rangers became the Western Conference’s sixth club to secure a playoff spot. Paterson’s third shutout of the season featured Rangers midseason acquisition David Miller scoring a pair and adding an assist as Kitchener is heading back to the playoffs after a long offseason last year. The Mississauga Steelheads got a much needed two points as Thomas Lattavo’s first OHL goal was the difference maker with 4:14 to go in the third period. The Steelheads defeated the Ottawa 67’s 3-2 on home ice as goaltender Cameron Zanussi made 36 saves to give Mississauga’s playoff pursuit some momentum. Watch
Jack Flinn did all he could, making 42 saves as the Owen Sound Attack fell 1-0 to the Soo Greyhounds on home ice. Bryan Moore had the lone goal for the Hounds who won their twelfth straight game. Watch
A four goal third period saw the Erie Otters charge back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat North Bay 5-3. Alex DeBrincat had two goals and two assists while Remi Elie had one of each. Connor McDavid extended his point streak to 27 games with two helpers on the afternoon. Watch
The Oshawa Generals doubled up Windsor 6-3 on the road as a Cole Cassels hat-trick led his club to victory. Michael Dal Colle had a goal and two assists while sophomore Sam Harding had one goal and one helper. Watch
Justin Fazio’s 37 saves helped the Sarnia Sting defeat Guelph 5-2. The Sting had goals from Patrick White, Jeff King, Jordan Kyrou, Davis Brown and Nikita Korostelev while Pius Suter provided both tallies for the Storm.
