Waterloo Wolves grad Steven Lorentz Commits to Petes
Peterborough Petes General Manager Michael Oke announced today that Steven Lorentz has committed to the Petes after signing a standard player agreement.
Lorentz was the 226th overall selection by the Petes in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection. This past season, Steven recorded 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points in 31 games with the Waterloo Wolves of the Alliance Hockey Midget AAA league.
“We are very excited to formally announce the signing of Steven Lorentz today and officially have him and his family join the Peterborough Petes,” said Oke. “Since selecting Steven in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection, he has shown continual improvement in his game. We are pleased that Steven has decided to join the Peterborough Petes to pursue his hockey and academic goals.”
“We told the players at the start of training camp to take control of their own destiny and make the best of the opportunity at hand,” added Petes Head Coach Jody Hull. “One guy who demonstrated that was Steve Lorentz. We feel he earned his chance to be a regular with our organization.”
“I’m really excited to join the Petes this season and develop my skills as a player,” said Lorentz. “I worked hard all summer and switched gyms to focus on not only fitness but nutrition as well. Training Camp was very competitive, and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to compete for a spot.”
Fans will be able to see Lorentz on the ice today at Yardmen Arena in Belleville as the Petes take on the Bulls in pre-season action at 2pm. He is also slated to suit up on Monday, September 2nd during the Petes pre-season home opener against the Oshawa Generals. Tickets will be available at the box office or online for the game at 2:05pm on Monday at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
