Barrie Colts 11, Sudbury Wolves 4
The Barrie Colts flexed their offensive muscle to grab game one of their first round matchup against the Sudbury Wolves by a one-sided 11-4 final.
The Wolves silenced the Molson Centre crowd early when John McFarland opened the scoring on the power play just 1:13 into the game. It didn’t take long for the fans to cheer again as the Colts rallied to score eight unanswered goals including four in the first period to take a commanding lead.
Alexander Burmistrov led the way with four points including two goals and two assists as the game’s first star, with Alex Hutchings and Dalton Prout grabbing second and third star honours respectively for their one goal and two assist contributions. Matt Kennedy, Alex Pietrangelo, and Nick Crawford each contributed three points in the contest. Peter Di Salvo made 26 saves in the win.
McFarland finished the game with two goals and teammate Matias Sointu had three assists. Andrew Loverock took the loss in goal allowing five goals on 22 shots. The Colts outshot the Wolves 47-30 in the game. Attendance was 4,356.
Game two goes Saturday night at 7:30 pm in Sudbury.

Windsor Spitfires 6, Erie Otters 2
The defending MasterCard Memorial Cup and OHL Champions the Windsor Spitfires began their quest to repeat with a game one win 6-2 over the Erie Otters at the WFCU Centre before a crowd of 5,872.
Justin Shugg opened the scoring midway through the first period at 10:59 to give the Spits the lead before Greg McKegg tied the game shorthanded in the second period with a goal at 5:19.
The Spitfires replied with four unanswered goals including two by the game’s first star Adam Henrique who added an assist for three points on the night. Taylor Hall received second star honours with three assists, with defenceman Marc Cantin getting the game’s third star with a goal.
The Spitfires outshot the Otters 48-21 with Philipp Grubauer getting the win in net for the Spits over Adam Courchaine in goal for the Otters.
Game two of this series will be played in Erie Sunday afternoon at 4:30 pm.
