Monday June 9, 2014
The Ontario Hockey League is proud to congratulate the team of OHL Officials who participated in the 2014 Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer June 7-8 cycling 200km from Toronto to Niagara raising over $50,000 to benefit The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
‘OHL Team 21’ was led by captain and OHL Director of Officiating Conrad Hache joined by OHL Officials Shandor Alphonso, Jordan Browne, Jason Faist, Jason Finley, Michael Marley, Dustin McCrank, Jay Menard, Ryan Moniz, Kendrick Nicholson, Scott Oakman, Ryan Park, Matt Parlette, Sean Pindar, Sean Reid, Tim Steen, Matthew Traub, and Michael Zujko.
The team was riding in honour of longtime Officiating Supervisor Ken Bodendistel who passed away in November at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer. They proudly sported their stripes throughout the ride with special jerseys designed for the event including the words “Whistles to Wheels” across the chest in addition to the OHL logo and a “KB” patch stitched on the shoulder.
‘OHL Team 21’ members were among the 5,212 riders that helped raise $20 million this year alone for The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. In seven years, The Enbridge Ride To Conquer Cancer has raised over $119 million for the foundation and over $240 million for cancer research, treatment and care programs across the country.
“The overwhelming success of our 7th annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer is a direct result of this passionate and selfless community of riders, sponsors, donors, crew members and volunteers who support our mission to conquer cancer in our lifetime,” said Paul Alofs, President and CEO of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
Ride organizers released the dates of June 13th and 14th for the 2015 Ride, and encourage people of all athletic abilities to participate in the 8th annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer.
