Monday Highlights: Finnishing touch
Monday February 29, 2016
Though leap years happen infrequently enough, two different players from the same team scoring four goals in one game within days of each other would certainly take the cake.
After Ethan Szypula became the fourth Owen Sound Attack player in the last ten years to bury four in Mississauga on Saturday, Finnish forward Petrus Palmu replicated that output at home on Monday to lead the Attack to a 5-2 win over the visiting Niagara IceDogs.
Palmu’s four goals included a third period natural hat-trick in a span of just under nine minutes as the Attack rallied from a 2-1 deficit after 40 minutes to muzzle the IceDogs and vault themselves into sole possession of sixth place in the Western Conference.
Monday featured two games on the schedule.
OWEN SOUND 5 NIAGARA 2 – Petrus Palmu netted a natural hat-trick in the third period as part of a four goal night to push the Owen Sound Attack over visiting Niagara 5-2. Montreal Canadiens prospect Michael McNiven turned aside 26 shots while Ethan Szypula recorded three assists.
