IceDogs’ Alex Friesen signs with Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks have announced that they have signed recent IceDogs graduate centre Alex Friesen to an entry level contract.
Friesen spent five seasons with the IceDogs playing in 292 career OHL regular season games, picking up 91 goals and 153 assists for 244 points to go along with 381 penalty minutes. 2011-12 was a career year for Friesen who has 26 goals and 45 assists for 71 points, with a +39 rating and 106 penalty minutes, all career highs.
Friesen was originally drafted by Vancouver in the sixth round, 172nd overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
