Windsor Spitfires are 2025 West Division Champions
The Windsor Spitfires are West Division champions, claiming the Bumbacco Trophy for the third time in the past four years following a 7-1 win over the Kingston Frontenacs on Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.
It marks the fifth time the Spits have claimed the honour since the establishment of the West Division in 1994-95, following previous titles in 2023, 2022, 2010 and 2009.
As has been the case all season, Ilya Protas and Liam Greentree factored into Thursday’s win, with the former scoring twice while the latter also found the back of the net. The dynamic duo is the first set of Windsor Spitfires teammates to record 100 points in a season since 1994-95 when Bill Bowler and Dave Roche last accomplished the feat.
Overage forwards Ryan Abraham and Noah Morneau have also been reliable scoring options in Windsor, each with 61 points on the campaign while third-year blueliner Anthony Cristoforo has 55 points and owns a plus-50 rating.
The 41-15-4-1 Spitfires have been steered by head coach Greg Walters in his first season with the organization.
