Wednesday Highlights: Wolves too much for Troops

2019 NHL Draft prospect Blake Murray (16, 17) scored twice and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen locked down his league-leading fourth shutout of the season as the Sudbury Wolves silenced the visiting rival North Bay Battalion in a 5-0 win. The Wolves outshot the Battalion 49-23 as Blake McConville (2) and Murray scored shorthanded goals 47 seconds apart inside the opening three minutes of the first period. David Levin (18) and Anthony DeMeo (1) also got in on the scoring while Owen Robinson picked up a pair of assists. Christian Purboo stopped 32 of 33 shots in a relief appearance for North Bay while Luukkonen stopped all 23 shots he faced to earn his 11th straight win. The Wolves have won three of their five meetings with North Bay this season, improving to 25-14-2-1, just two points back of first place Niagara in the Central Division. While Sudbury has won four straight, the Battalion falls to 21-20-1-2.
