Wednesday Highlights: Hounds hallo-win to expand West lead

The Soo Greyhounds claimed a commanding 9-3 victory over the visiting Flint Firebirds on Halloween, outshooting them 46-21 in the process. Overage defenceman Jordan Sambrook (4, 5) led the way with two goals and an assist while Barrett Hayton (7) and Rory Kerins (2) each had a goal and two assists. Dominic Mufarreh (1), Cole MacKay (6), Ryan Roth (5), Keeghan Howdeshell (10) and Cullen McLean (3) also scored for the Hounds who improved to 11-3-3-0 with the win. Rookie netminder Ethan Taylor got the win in the crease while the Firebirds, who went with just 14 skaters, had goals from Eric Uba (4), Jacob Winterton (6) and Jake Durham (3). Flint led 2-1 after one period before the Hounds scored five times in the second. The Firebirds fall to 0-14-1-0 on the campaign.
