Battalion acquire forward Nikolas Rossetto from Bulldogs

The North Bay Battalion have acquired right winger Nikolas Rossetto from the Brantford Bulldogs in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2027 OHL Priority Selection originally belonging to the Peterborough Petes.

Rossetto, a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was selected by Brantford in the third round, 53rd overall, of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection from the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 15U program. Prior to joining the Bulldogs, he played in the Soo Greyhounds minor hockey program, where he helped the U14 and U15 teams capture NOHL championships, led both teams in scoring, and was named the NOHL U15 MVP. He later recorded 81 points (54-27-81) in 58 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 15U.

Rossetto made his OHL debut with Brantford during the 2024-25 season, recording 19 points (9-10-19) in 57 regular-season games while adding four points (1-3-4) in 11 playoff contests. After recovering from an injury, he appeared in 49 games during the 2025-26 season, registering nine points (6-3-9) while also skating in four playoff games.

Through two OHL seasons, Rossetto has totalled 28 points (15-13-28) in 106 regular-season games and four points (1-3-4) in 15 playoff games.

Rossetto underwent surgery for a shoulder injury that limited him last season and is expected to return to full health by the end of October.

“Nik is a player whom we coveted in his draft year because of his high IQ, compete and skill,” said Battalion Director of Hockey Operations Adam Dennis. “We followed it up with a great interview but unfortunately missed out on him in the draft.

“He dealt with a lot of adversity last season, going through injury and battling a deep lineup, but we felt that having a change of scenery and fresh start could bring out the tremendous upside to be had with Nik.

“We’re thrilled to have him join the rest of the Troops and look forward to having him in North Bay in a few weeks.”

Rossetto is the Battalion’s third trade acquisition of the offseason, following the additions of left winger Max Crete on June 18 and overage centre Rene Van Bommel earlier this week.
