Tuesday Highlights: Career night for McLeod
MISSISSAUGA 6 – OTTAWA 1
New Jersey Devils prospect Michael McLeod (9, 10, 11) picked up his first career OHL hat-trick and added two assists joining teammate Nathan Bastian (Oct. 12, 2016) in becoming the second Steelheads player to ever register five points in one game. Prior to this season, the feat hadn’t been accomplished since the 2010-11 season when Casey Cizikas logged five as a member of the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors. Recently acquired forward Trent Fox (8) pitched in as well, netting a goal and three assists while Ryan McLeod had three helpers. Aidan McFarland (8) and Jacob Cascagnette (10) also got in on the offence as Mississauga improved to 7-2-0-2 since returning from the holiday break. Rookie netminder Jacob Ingham turned aside 27 of 28 shots, helping to give the Steelheads a three point cushion over second place Sudbury in the Central Division. Dallas Stars prospect Chris Martenet (2) scored for Ottawa as the 67’s suffered their fourth straight loss.
