1ST STAR: ADAM RUZICKA (SARNIA STING):
Calgary Flames prospect Adam Ruzicka broke open a 2-2 game with a breakaway goal midway through the second period, giving the Sarnia Sting the lead for good in a 7-4 road win over the Kitchener Rangers. Ruzicka finished the night with two goals and an assist as the Sting won their second straight seven-goal game. The 19-year-old from Bratislava, Slovakia now has 22 points (5-17–22) in as many games. The 6-foot-4, 200Ib. centre collected 72 points (36-36–72) last season after being Calgary’s fourth round pick in 2017.
2ND STAR: ANTHONY SALINITRI (SARNIA STING):
Overage winger Anthony Salinitri also collected three points, scoring his 11th goal of the season while adding two assists. One of the league’s most dangerous penalty killers, Salinitri scored his fourth shorthanded goal of the season midway through the third period. The 20-year-old from Windsor, Ont. now has 22 points (11-11–22) in as many games. He was a sixth round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2016 and attended rookie camp with the Vancouver Canucks this past September.
3RD STAR: FRANCO SPROVIERO (SARNIA STING):
Local product Franco Sproviero scored twice to help the Sarnia Sting defeat the Kitchener Rangers 7-4 on the road. The Sarnia native picked up his seventh and eighth goals of the season to give him 17 points (8-9–17) over 20 games. Sproviero opened Sarnia’s scoring 3:20 into the first period and struck again with 6:35 remaining in the second. He was originally an eighth round pick by the club in 2014.
