Sting acquire forward Kaeden Johnston from London
The Sarnia Sting added a veteran name to their forward group on Monday, one who comes off a very good preseason. The Sting dealt a fourth round pick (Erie’s) in 2027 to the London Knights in exchange for 19-year-old winger Kaeden Johnston, who recorded eight points (5-3–8) over four preseason games for the Knights.
“Kaeden is a player who’s been a part of the talented London Knights where his opportunity was limited,” said Sarnia Sting GM Dylan Seca. “However, he’s someone we’ve been tracking for a couple years and believe his speed, size and skill is valuable. Further more we believe his experience of being an OHL champion will help our group as we continue our push back into contention in the Western Conference.”
Johnston, from Peterborough, Ont., recorded 10 points (6-4–10) over 40 games in London last season. The former fifth round pick in 2021 spent most of the 2022-23 season with the GOJHL’s Komoka Kings, registering 30 points (18-12–30) over 27 outings. He slots into a Sarnia lineup that will be looking for offensive contributors to start the 2024-25 season.
