Six OHL graduates selected by Seattle Kraken in NHL Expansion Draft
Six OHL graduates were selected by the Seattle Kraken in the NHL Expansion Draft on Wednesday.
Four former OHL defencemen and two forwards are headed to the Emerald City as Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano headlines a group that also consists of 2019 Stanley Cup champion Vince Dunn (St. Louis Blues), towering blueliners Kurtis MacDermid (Los Angeles Kings) and Jamie Oleksiak (Dallas Stars) along with forwards Nathan Bastian (New Jersey Devils) and Jared McCann (Toronto Maple Leafs.
Architected by former Soo Greyhounds star and long-time NHL forward Ron Francis in the GM chair, the Kraken hold the second overall pick in Friday night’s first round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
Seattle will open its first NHL season on the road in Vegas on October 12th. They’ll host the Vancouver Canucks in their first-ever home opener at the brand new Climate Pledge Arena on October 23rd.
