Rangers grad Greg Meireles signs AHL contract with Charlotte
Charlotte, NC – Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the Checkers have signed forward Greg Meireles to a one-year AHL contract.
Meireles, a 21-year-old draft pick of the Panthers in 2019, recently concluded his junior careers with the Ontario Hockey League’s Kitchener Rangers.
Meireles appeared in 48 regular season games with the Rangers in 2019-20, producing 65 points (31g, 34a) and served as the club’s co-captain. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario, recorded an OHL career-best 36 goals and 97 points in 68 games with Kitchener in the 2018-19 season.
Originally selected by Florida in the sixth round (168th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, Meireles appeared in 244 career OHL regular season games, registering 239 points (99g, 140a).
