OHL Power Rankings: Jan. 26, 2026
Who’s up:
Kitchener Rangers – up two spots to #3 this week
The Rangers have a good thing going, riding a seven-game winning streak into the final week of January. Kitchener beat Windsor, Owen Sound and Erie last week with big performances from Jack Pridham (3-3–6), Dylan Edwards (3-1–4) and Luca Romano (2-2–4). Pridham is one of the OHL’s top performers of late, with 16 points (8-8–16) over eight January matchups. The Rangers have a seven-point cushion on London for first place in the Midwest Division heading into Tuesday’s matchup against Sarnia at the Aud.
Soo Greyhounds – up two spots to #5 this week
Much like Kitchener, the Soo Greyhounds are red hot with wins in eight straight. The Hounds proved too much for the London Knights on Wednesday night, with Carter George’s second career goal highlighting his first-ever win against the green and gold. The Greyhounds proceeded to defeat the North Bay Battalion on consecutive nights, outscoring them 9-1. It should be noted, all of this latest success has come without Brady Martin, who has been sidelined since the World Juniors.
Niagara IceDogs – up two spots to #9 this week
The IceDogs continue to yo-yo up and down the power rankings, finding themselves on an upswing of late with wins in three of four. After falling 5-3 to division-leading Barrie, the IceDogs responded with a 5-0 road win in Owen Sound before beating the Brampton Steelheads 4-3 in overtime on a Ryan Roobroeck game-winner. Ryerson Edgar is the OHL Rookie of the Week, with a Saturday hat-trick marking his second of the season.
Kingston Frontenacs – up two spots to #10 this week
With a postponed game on Sunday, the Fronts had a quiet week, handing the Saginaw Spirit an 8-2 drubbing in their lone outing on Friday. Rookie forward Nolan Snyder went off for two goals and two assists in that win. The Fronts continue to hover around .500, and sit four points back of sixth place Niagara in the Eastern Conference.
Sudbury Wolves – up two spots to #11 this week
The Wolves moved a pair of veterans in Nathan Villeneuve and Kieron Walton at the deadline, but here they are with points in four straight contests, a stretch that has included top opponents in Flint, Brantford and a respected QMJHL Rouyn-Noranda Huskies squad. The Wolves managed to get a point out of Brantford in a 5-4 OT loss on Friday before completing their second win over the Huskies courtesy two late goals from Rowan Henderson. The Wolves are on the road this week with stops in Peterborough, Kingston and Ottawa.
Erie Otters – up one spot to #16 this week
The 16th spot on the power rankings has been a revolving door of sorts, more or less spotlighting the team that has struggled the least. The Erie Otters climb into #16 this week following consecutive 4-3 losses to Guelph and Kitchener, collecting a pair of points in the process. The Otters try and end a nine-game slide this weekend at home to Sault Ste. Marie and London.
Who’s down:
Windsor Spitfires – down three spots to #6 this week
The Spits lost to Kitchener and split a home-and-home with Flint, but slide this week in part due to the emergence of the Soo Greyhounds who pose a real challenge in the West Division. NHL Draft prospect Ethan Belchetz is one goal shy of the 30-goal mark, while Joey Costanzo is two wins away from 100 on his OHL career.
Flint Firebirds – down one spot to #7 this week
The Firebirds/Coneydogs split decisions against Windsor, sitting tied with the Spits atop the West Division. The Firebirds will have a good test at the Dort on Friday as the Barrie Colts pay a visit followed by the Sarnia Sting on Saturday, who the ‘Birds have battled with all season long.
North Bay Battalion – down two spots to #12 this week
The Troops managed to beat top-ranked Brantford at home on Thursday behind a Lirim Amidovski hat-trick and Kaden Pitre overtime-winner. They proceeded to take their lumps in Sault Ste. Marie, being outscored 9-1 over a pair of losses to the Greyhounds.
Peterborough Petes – down four spots to #13 this week
The Petes had been humming along alright but hit a bit of a wall this past week, falling 4-1 at home to Saginaw, rebounding to defeat Sarnia on the road 5-2 before a forgettable 10-2 shellacking at the hands of the London Knights. Injuries have crept up on the Petes blueline, posing some real challenges for the maroon and white who were without captain Carson Cameron, James Petrovski, Grayden Strohack and Thanasi Marentette for Sunday’s bout.
Sarnia Sting – down one spot and off the list this week
The Sting hung around for a couple weeks, but losses to London and Peterborough have them back on the outside looking in. Sarnia and Erie are both currently eight points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
