OHL Mourns the Loss of Ryan Crowther
The Ontario Hockey League family is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of alumnus Ryan Crowther who passed away in Chicago, Ill. on Sunday at the age of 37.
Crowther had been coaching the North Central Predators Minor Midget team at a tournament in Chicago prior to the tragedy.
A native of Orillia Ont., Crowther was an intense competitor during his OHL career that spanned parts of three seasons from 1996-99. The physical defenceman played 110 games between the Belleville Bulls, Owen Sound Platers and Ottawa 67’s, recording three goals, 11 assists and 14 points. He was Belleville’s second round (28th overall) selection in the 1996 OHL Priority Selection from the Orillia Terriers Jr. A club
He leaves behind his wife Sarah and daughters Ryley and Kylyn.
Thoughts and prayers are extended to the Crowther family and all of Ryan’s friends and former teammates during this most difficult time.
