OHL Behind the Scenes: Knights’ Cindy Mitro
Throughout the 2022-23 off-season, the Ontario Hockey League will be spotlighting a member from each of our teams’ front office staffs as we look to highlight those working “Behind the Scenes” of the day-to-day operations.
The newest edition features London Knights Director of Ticketing, Cindy Mitro.
CM: My name is Cindy Mitro, and I am the Director of Ticketing for the London Knights. I have been with the organization since January 2005. Being from London, I’ve been a fan of the Knights since I was very young.
What are your responsibilities as the London Knights Director of Ticketing?
CM: I currently oversee all aspects of ticketing for the team, including season tickets, and individual game sales. I also assist with day to day operations of the box office, and customer service inquiries.
A team with a dedicated fan base, how important is that to London’s ticketing department?
CM: Our fans are the best! Many have been with us for a very long time, and contribute to the success of the team on the ice. The fans are the backbone of our organization. It’s our loyal fans that make London such a special place to play junior hockey and our players don’t take it for granted. Our team has created many long lasting relationships with our fans, and have come to cherish every interaction we have.
What is the most fulfilling part about your role with the Knights?
CM: The most fulfilling part of my role is interacting with fans, and watching them enjoy attending our games. Being able to assist in creating long lasting memories with family members and friends is an amazing feeling.
What led you to your current role?
CM: I came to my current role through a number of opportunities that were presented to me. In high school, I was a lifeguard with first aid training, which allowed me to assist a few teams as their trainer. With this experience, I was able to assist the Western Football team as team manager during my time at Western. Shortly after that finished, I had an opportunity at a car dealership player appearance, (while my family was purchasing a car) to speak with the Marketing Manager of the London Knights, which lead to a volunteer position. Once a full time position opened up with the team, I was brought in for an interview and have been here ever since!
What has been your favourite London Knights memory?
CM: I have had many great memories during my time with the team. In my first year we hosted and won the Memorial Cup, which was very special. I also had the privilege of watching our team through other great regular season and playoff runs, which have all been memorable to me.
