NHL Debut: Beckett Sennecke (Oct. 9, 2025)
Beckett Sennecke takes another big step in his young career, making his NHL debut with the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night. Selected third overall by the Ducks in the 2024 NHL Draft held in Las Vegas, the 19-year-old forward earns his spot after an impressive training camp where he recorded three points (two goals, one assist) in six preseason games.
A Toronto native, Sennecke was originally chosen eighth overall by the Oshawa Generals in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. Over three OHL seasons, he became one of the league’s most dynamic forwards, producing 83 goals, 126 assists, and 209 points in 180 regular-season games. He topped the 20-goal mark in each of his three seasons and played a key role in leading the Generals to back-to-back OHL Championship Series appearances.
Sennecke was named to the OHL Second All-Rookie Team in 2022-23 and earned OHL Third All-Star Team honours in 2024-25. His combination of size, creativity, and offensive instincts made him a consistent difference-maker throughout his junior career.
“I see him being like a wild card where you can use him in all situations, and he can play with anybody,” Ducks head coach Joel Quenneville said. “You think maybe he’s not going to get enough ice time, but I still think he’s useful in other ways where he can play with top players and be productive as well. He’s a good asset for us, and the way he trained in camp gave us a lot of options as a coach.”
