Milestone Moments: October 26, 2018
ADAM BOQVIST (LONDON KNIGHTS):
Chicago Blackhawks first round pick Adam Boqvist threw the monkey off his back, scoring his first career OHL goal on a feed from Liam Foudy. The lone goal in London’s 2-1 overtime loss in Ottawa, Boqvist showed patience before putting backhander past 67’s goaltender Cedrick Andree to open the scoring midway through the second period. Boqvist’s goal is accompanied by 10 assists on the season, giving him 11 points in as many games. The 18-year-old native of Falun, Sweden was London’s second round pick in the 2017 CHL Import Draft. He was the eighth overall pick of the 2018 NHL Draft this past summer in Dallas.
KELTON HATCHER (SARNIA STING):
Kelton Hatcher waited 132 games, but scored his first career OHL goal on Friday as the Sarnia Sting defeated visiting Flint 4-2. Hatcher’s hard wrister from the point 13:36 into the first period featured assists from Brayden Guy and Ryan McGregor. The 19-year-old from Haddonfield, NJ is in his third OHL season. He is the son of Sting head coach, OHL graduate and former long-time NHL defenceman Derian Hatcher. His older brother Chase played three OHL seasons between London and Peterborough from 2011-14.
GRIFFIN WILSON (OWEN SOUND ATTACK):
Owen Sound Attack rookie Griffin Wilson scored the first goal of his young OHL career on Friday in Mississauga as the Bears took a 5-3 road win. Wilson’s goal was Owen Sound’s fifth of the night, coming on assists from Jackson Doherty and former Stratford Warriors Jr. B teammate Kaleb Pearson with 6:07 left in the second period. Wilson also had an assist in the win, giving him four points (1-3–4) over 13 games this season. The 6-foot-3, 209Ib. native of Elora, Ont. was Owen Sound’s first round pick in the 2018 OHL Under-18 Priority Selection this past spring.
