Milestone Moments: Nov. 3/17

 

Four more players scored their first career OHL goal on Friday night including London Knights defenceman Alec Regula, Ottawa 67’s forward Oliver True, Saginaw Spirit winger Danny Katic and Sudbury Wolves rearguard Emmett Serensits. Here’s a closer look at those milestones.

 

ALEC REGULA (LONDON KNIGHTS):
Rookie defenceman Alec Regula stepped into a one-timer and made no mistake, blasting it past Saginaw’s Evan Cormier to tie the score at four on Friday. The Knights would fall 6-5 in overtime, but Regula’s first OHL goal was a memorable one, coming on assists from Evan Bouchard and Robert Thomas 4:51 into the third period. A 17-year-old from West Bloomfield, Mich., Regula was London’s fourth round pick in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection and has five points (1-4–5) over 16 games this season.

 

OLIVER TRUE (OTTAWA 67’s):
Oliver True took an Austen Keating pass out of the corner, one-timing a low shot through the legs of Barrie Colts goaltender Kai Edmonds for his first career OHL marker. The 17-year-old from Rungsted, Denmark scored the memorable marker in Ottawa’s 4-2 loss to Barrie on Friday. True was Ottawa’s second round (76th overall) pick in the 2017 CHL Import Draft. His older brother Alexander True scored the overtime winner for the Seattle Thunderbirds in Game 6 of the WHL Championship Series last spring.

 

DANNY KATIC (SAGINAW SPIRIT):
Danny Katic got his stick on a Caleb Everett point shot, tipping it past London Knights goaltender Joseph Raaymakers for his first career OHL goal. Katic’s goal put the Spirit up 3-1 in a game they’d eventually take by a score of 6-5 in overtime. The 17-year-old from South Porcupine, Ont. was Saginaw’s eighth round pick in 2016. He is the cousin of former Sarnia Sting defenceman Mark Katic (2005-09).

 

EMMETT SERENSITS (SUDBURY WOLVES):
Rookie defenceman Emmett Serensits put a puck on goal and something good happened as the 17-year-old from Oakville, Ont. scored his first career OHL goal. Serensits scored 1:18 into the second period with assists from Shane Bulitka and Evan Krassey to put the Wolves up 3-2 in a game they’d eventually win 6-5 in overtime. Serensits was Sudbury’s first round (7th overall) pick in the inaugural OHL Under-18 Priority Selection this past April.
