This shutdown defender is ready to play! Playing on behalf of the Peterborough Petes in the first ever Memorial eCup presented by Kia will be reliable blueliner Shawn Spearing.

The 18-year-old Toronto native picked up five assists over his 45-game sophomore season with the Petes last season and finished with a +5 rating. Touting “I score goals” as his go-to move, the 6-foot-2 defenceman will be tasked with carrying over his team’s recent success to the virtual world.

Spearing captained the GTHL’s Toronto Jr. Canadiens Minor Midget squad to an OHL Cup title in 2018 prior to being selected by the Petes in the fourth round of the 2018 OHL Priority Selection.
