Generals’ Winterton commits to Guelph
The Guelph Gryphons men’s hockey program announced via Twitter (@gryphonsmhky) on Wednesday that Oshawa Generals forward Jacob Winterton has committed for the 2021-22 season.
Winterton, 20, recorded 16 points (7-9–16) over 58 games for the Generals during the 2019-20 season. He entered the League with the Flint Firebirds in 2018-19, registering 21 points (11-10–21) over 67 games as a rookie.
A native of Whitby, Ont., Winterton is a former 10th round pick of the Firebirds in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, graduating from the Ajax-Pickering Raiders U16 program.
Winterton joins Barrie Colts grad Luke Bignell and Mississauga Steelheads alumnus Duncan Penman in Guelph’s 2021-22 recruitment class.
