Futures Watch: Oshawa Generals
As the 2025–26 OHL season approaches this September, the Oshawa Generals are looking to build on their (41–21–4–2) record from last year. We spoke with Vice President and GM Roger Hunt about the new faces fans should be keeping an eye on as the team prepares for the upcoming campaign.

Player Spotlights:
Sam Roberts – RW
Drafted in the first round (16th overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection from the Toronto Canadiens U16 AAA program, Roberts is a right winger from Aurora, Ontario. The 6-foot power forward had a strong season in the GTHL, tallying 37 points (14-23–37) in 33 games and helped lead his team to an OHL Cup Championship by registering two assists in the finals versus Don Mills. He also earned the Gatorade Player of the Game at the 2025 GTHL Top Prospects game for Team Blue.
“Roberts was an absolute force all year with his rugged style of play mixed with his sneaky good skill. He constantly outworked and wore out his opponents from game to game. He was never afraid to go to the dirty areas of the ice and physically dominated in puck battles. He also has a tremendous shot and release, making him a true Power forward. Combine all that with his high hockey IQ and playmaking ability, and we anticipate Sam being a real leader for us even at a young age.”
Tyler Hinde – LW
Drafted in the third round (46th overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection from the Toronto Red Wings U16 AAA program, Hinde is a left winger from Vaughan, Ont. In 33 regular-season games, the 6-foot-2 forward tallied 18 points (8-10–18) and was also tied for second in team scoring at the OHL Cup, finishing with three points in four games. He also had an excellent showing at the Silver Stick Tournament in Whitby, Ontario, where he scored in the finals.
“Hinde is a strong skater with good size and a hard shot. He fits the power forward mould as someone who can rip a puck but also doesn’t mind the physical part of the game either. He’ll bring size and speed to our lineup right away, and we’re very excited about his goal-scoring potential long-term.”
Anthony Timmerman – D
Drafted in the fourth round (77th overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection from Detroit Little Caesars, Timmerman is a left-shot defenceman from Rochester, MI. This past season with Little Caesars, he racked up four goals and 28 points in 21 games in the MAHA.
“Timmerman is a slick-skating, offensively gifted defenceman who excels at moving the puck from the back end. His hockey IQ is high-end, and he is a natural at transporting the puck. We are excited to get him in our lineup as he will add a lot of speed and skill to the group.”
