First overall pick Ethan Belchetz signs with Spitfires
WINDSOR, ON – The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce the signing of Ethan Belchetz to the Red, White and Navy for the 2024-25 season.
Belchetz was selected first overall by the Spitfires in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection draft. Ethan hails from Oakville, Ontario. He stands at 6’5 and weighs 230lbs.
Belchetz played for the Oakville Rangers during the 2023-24 season. He recorded 46 goals and 38 assists in 34 games played. Belchetz led the Rangers to an OHL Cup berth. In the OHL Cup, the Oakville native had five goals and six assists for 11 points and was named the tournament MVP. The Oakville Rangers defeated the Vaughan Kings by a score of 1-0 in the OHL Cup Final.
The Oakville native is excited to be joining the club.
“You know it feels amazing, it is everything I’ve ever wanted since I was little.” Belchetz started. “It is a very special moment for me and playing for an amazing organization means so much and I can’t wait to get started.”
Bill Bowler spoke on Belchetz putting pen to paper.
“Ethan is a young man that we targeted early on in the season, he’s an elite player and we can’t wait to see him on the ice and in our community.” Bowler said. “He will be a big piece to the success of our organization.”
