2023-24 OHL Awards Ceremony Recap
The Ontario Hockey League hosted the 2023-24 OHL Awards Ceremony on Wednesday afternoon in the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Great Hall in Toronto, Ont.
In addition to presenting 17 awards, OHL Commissioner David Branch extended his congratulations to several outstanding teams and individuals. He recognized the London Knights as OHL Champions, earning the 2024 J. Ross Robertson Cup. He also congratulated Easton Cowan, who received the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as the OHL Playoff MVP.
The 2024 Memorial Cup champion Saginaw Spirit were honored for their remarkable achievement. Additionally, members of the U16 and U14 OHL Cup champion teams were in attendance and recognized for winning their respective tournaments.
2023-24 OHL Award Winners:
Easton Cowan (London Knights) – Red Tilson Trophy / Most Outstanding Player.
David Goyette (Sudbury Wolves) – Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy / Top Scorer.
Matthew Sop (Kitchener Rangers) – Leo Lalonde Memorial Trophy / Overage Player of the Year.
Jacob Oster (Oshawa Generals) – OHL Goaltender of the Year.
Zayne Parekh (Saginaw Spirit) – Max Kaminsky Trophy / Defenceman of the Year.
Jake O’Brien (Brantford Bulldogs) – Emms Family Award / Rookie of the Year.
Derek Laxdal (Oshawa Generals) – Matt Leyden Trophy / Coach of the Year.
Adam Dennis (North Bay Battalion) – Jim Gregory Award / General Manager of the Year.
Jett Luchanko (Guelph Storm) – William Hanley Memorial Trophy / Most Sportsmanlike Player.
Mason Vaccari (Kingston Frontenacs) – Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy / Humanitarian of the Year.
Braden Hache (Saginaw Spirit) – Mickey Renaud Captain’s Trophy.
Carter George (Owen Sound Attack) – Bobby Smith Trophy / Scholastic Player of the Year & Ivan Tennant Memorial Award / Top Academic High School Player.
Thomas Sirman (Ottawa 67’s) – Roger Neilson Memorial Award / Top Academic University Player.
Ethan Belchetz (Windsor Spitfires) – Jack Ferguson Award / First overall pick in OHL Priority Selection.
Hunter Brzustewicz (Kitchener Rangers) – Inaugural Ted Baker Award / Teammate of the Year.
