HISTORY
Brantford, Ontario, a city known for its passionate fan base and proud sports tradition, became the new home of the Bulldogs in 2023. The franchise was formally based in Hamilton beginning in 2015, where it built a strong reputation in the OHL, capturing the J. Ross Robertson Cup in 2017-18 and 2021-22, along with Eastern Conference titles in those same seasons. With a strong focus on player development, the Bulldogs have produced standout talent and quickly established themselves as a key part of Brantford’s sports identity.

EDUCATION
Current Brantford Bulldogs high school players attend Brantford Collegiate Institute, where they are supported in balancing academic achievement with their hockey commitments. ARENA
The Brantford Civic Centre is a historic multi-purpose venue located in the heart of Brantford, Ontario. Originally opened in 1967, the arena underwent major renovations ahead of the Bulldogs’ arrival in 2023, enhancing fan amenities and player facilities. With a hockey seating capacity of approximately 3,000, the Civic Centre provides an intimate, high-energy atmosphere for Bulldogs home games. In addition to hockey, it hosts concerts, community events, and recreational programming, serving as a cornerstone of Brantford’s entertainment landscape. In October 2024, recognizing the team’s growing support and the need for a modern facility, Brantford city councillors endorsed a $140 million proposal to build a new sports and entertainment centre, further solidifying the city’s commitment to its hockey community.

The Brantford Bulldogs are proud to be supported by 20 dedicated billet families who open their homes to players each season. These families, all located in the Brantford area, offer a safe, stable, and welcoming environment that helps players thrive both on and off the ice.
NOTABLE ALUMNI
The Brantford Bulldogs have developed a strong track record of producing elite hockey talent ready for the next level. Mason McTavish, a dynamic forward and third overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, has quickly become a key piece of the Anaheim Ducks’ rebuild, known for his scoring touch and leadership. Arber Xhekaj, an undrafted defenceman who defied the odds, made headlines with the Montreal Canadiens thanks to his physical presence and rapid rise to the NHL. Robert Thomas, a Stanley Cup champion with the St. Louis Blues, is a gifted playmaker recognized for his high hockey IQ. All three were instrumental in helping the Bulldogs capture OHL championships, Thomas in 2018, and McTavish and Xhekaj in 2022.

SPECIAL EVENTS
The Bulldogs engage deeply with their city through several annual events and community visits. Their Golf Tournament is a social highlight, bringing the team together for a day of friendly competition and community support. The Bulldogs’ Christmas Brunch fosters team camaraderie and holiday spirit, celebrating the season with players, coaches, and local supporters. FUN FACT
Brantford is proudly known as the hometown of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. It’s also where Alexander Graham Bell made the first successful long-distance telephone call and developed much of his early work, giving Brantford the nickname “The Telephone City.”
