Erik Cermak commits to Petes
Peterborough, ON – Peterborough Petes General Manager Michael Oke announced Thursday that the team has signed forward Erik Čermák to a standard player agreement.
Čermák, a 6’0”, 152lbs left winger, was selected 54th overall by the Petes in the 2018 CHL Import Draft in June. The Prague, Czech Republic native played for EC Red Bull Salzburg U18 Akademie for the 2017-18 where he recorded 8 goals, 16 assists, and 24 points in 21 games.

In international play, Čermák has tallied 11 points in 12 games for Czech Republic. He will travel to Canada next week with Czech Republic’s Under-18 Team for the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup taking place in Red Deer and Edmonton, Alberta from August 4 to 11.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Peterborough Petes and to get to play in the Ontario Hockey League,” commented Čermák. “I can’t wait to put on a Petes jersey and start playing.”
“Erik is a very talented player that many consider to be one of the top Czech players in his age group,” added Oke. “We’re glad that he’s chosen to continue his develop in the OHL with the Petes.”
Fans will get their first look at Čermák at the Petes’ 2018 Training Camp in late August. The Petes will play five exhibition games between September 1 and September 16, including two home games on Sunday, September 2 at 2:05pm against the Oshawa Generals and on Thursday, September 13 at 7:05pm against the Kingston Frontenacs.
The Petes will play their home opener on Thursday, September 20 at 7:05 pm against the East Division rival Kingston Frontenacs.
