(2) Barrie Colts (42-22-2-2) vs. (4) Oshawa Generals (41-21-4-2)
The Barrie Colts and Oshawa Generals are set to go head-to-head in an Eastern Conference showdown starting Friday!
Fresh off a hard-fought seven-game series win over the Kingston Frontenacs, the Colts retain home ice advantage as the No. 2 seed and return to the Eastern Conference Final for the first time since 2016. Their lineup features experienced playoff veterans in Dalyn Wakely, Anthony Romani, and Owen Van Steensel, former North Bay Battalion standouts now making their fourth straight appearance in the East Final after being acquired by Barrie mid-season. With momentum on their side, the Colts look to come together and continue their push toward an OHL title.
Draft eligible defenceman Kashawn Aitcheson has been one of the stories of the 2025 playoffs, providing the Colts with a blend of physicality and scoring from the back end. His OT winner in Game 5 of Barrie’s first round series against Kingston was his fifth beyond regulation this season.
The Oshawa Generals return to the Eastern Conference Final for the second consecutive year after defeating the top-seeded Brantford Bulldogs 4–2 in their second-round series. Colby Barlow (Winnipeg Jets) has proven to be a key addition, leading all Generals skaters with 21 points (9-12-21) in 12 playoff games. 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Owen Griffin continues to rise to the occasion, sitting second among all OHL players in postseason goals with 11. Eager to redeem last year’s playoff run, the Generals face an eager opponent as both teams battle for a spot in the OHL Championship Series.
Perhaps an area the Generals were affected last spring with an injury to Connor Punnett, Oshawa is back with a well-built blueline featuring captain Ben Danford and steady scoring defenceman Luca Marelli who leads OHL blueliners with 20 points (4-16–20) in the playoffs.
Two physical, well-built squads with an abundance of skill square off to determine who will advance to the OHL Championship Series.
