Colton Kammerer commits to Sting
SARNIA, ON – General Manager, Nick Sinclair announced today that the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club has received a commitment from 2017 third round pick, Colton Kammerer. He is the fifth player from the 2017 draft class to sign a Standard Player Agreement and Education Package with the Sting organization.
The Brooklin, ON native spent the 2016-17 season with the Whitby Wildcats; registering 34 points (6G, 28A) in 36 games played. The 52nd overall pick added another 5 points in 6 playoff games with his minor midget club en route to capturing the OMHA Championship and clinching a berth in the 2017 OHL Cup.
The 6’00” defenceman is expected make his official Sting debut this weekend when the Sting take on the Knights in a Pre-Season home-and-home series.
Sinclair comments today’s announcement, “We’re happy to receive a commitment from Colton and the Kammerer family. He has worked extremely hard over the summer and came to camp with the right mentality. At both orientation camp and main camp, Colton and was a stand-out in the eyes of our hockey operations staff. He is an extremely mature young man who has been a leader at every level throughout his minor hockey career and has certainly earned this opportunity. We look forward to working with Colton on his development and are excited about his future as a member of the Sarnia Sting.”
