Friday Highlights: Timpano up to the test

Troy Timpano and the Sudbury Wolves have endured a season of ups and downs, but the 17 year-old sophomore was at his best on Friday, turning aside all 31 shots he faced as the Wolves blanked the visiting Belleville Bulls 3-0. Timpano earned first star honours in his eighth win of the season. Watch
After spending his rookie season as the understudy to Franky Palazzese, the former second round pick in 2013 has seen his fair share of shots this year but turned in a pair of victories on busy nights in the month of February. Timpano made 43 saves in a 4-3 win over Guelph on February 6 and turned aside 41 shots on February 11 in a 3-2 triumph over North Bay. He is eligible for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

The Guelph Storm made a statement in the race for home ice advantage in the Western Conference as Pius Suter had two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win over Owen Sound. Justin Nichols turned aside 26 of 27 shots for his 31st win of the season. Watch
San Jose Sharks prospect Julius Bergman finished off a big London Knights comeback in Ottawa, scoring 3:22 into overtime for a 6-5 win. The Knights overcame a 3-0 deficit after one period. Draft eligible forward Travis Konecny scored twice and added an assist for Ottawa. Watch
Sam Bennett helped the Kingston Frontenacs extend their Eastern Conference lead on the rival Peterborough Petes, scoring once and adding an assist in a 4-2 win on Salute the Troops Night. The Frontenacs now lead Peterborough by four points. Watch
The Kitchener Rangers nearly let things get away before shootout goals from Brandon Robinson, Ryan MacInnis and Dmitrii Sergeev secured a 5-4 shootout win over Windsor. Darby Llewellyn earned first star honours with a goal and two helpers. Watch
Gabe Guertler’s winner with 1:21 remaining along with Anthony DeAngelo’s three helpers against his old club led the Soo Greyhounds to a 5-4 win in Sarnia. Jakob Chychrun was a bright spot for the Sting with a goal and an assist. Watch
