Today, we’re taking a look at the Vancouver Canucks’ OHL connections within their prospect pool. The organization saw major strides across all levels this past season – including a historic Calder Cup win by their affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks.
Aleksei Medvedev (G) – London Knights (2024-25)
Selected: 2nd Round, 47th Overall (2025)
OHL Career Stats: 34 GP, 2.79 GAA, .912 SV%, 22-8-2-0
Age: 18
The first OHL goaltender off the board in the 2025 NHL Draft, Aleksei Medvedev was selected 47th overall by the Vancouver Canucks. A key part of the London Knights’ Memorial Cup-winning tandem, Medvedev earned the F.W. ‘Dinty’ Moore Trophy as the OHL rookie with the lowest goals-against average. Known for his quick lateral movement and poised presence in the crease, the Russian netminder posted a 2.79 GAA, .912 save percentage, and a 22-8 record across 34 regular-season games. He recently signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Vancouver.
Kieren Dervin (C) – Kingston Frontenacs (2024-25)
Selected: 3rd Round, 65th Overall (2025)
OHL Career Stats: 10 GP, 1 G, 2 A, 3 PTS, +2
Age: 18
With the first pick of the third round, the Canucks selected Kieren Dervin of the Kingston Frontenacs. After producing at over a point-per-game pace in the Prep Hockey Conference, Dervin joined Kingston late in the season and tallied six points (2G, 4A) in 21 combined regular-season and playoff games.
Gabriel Chiarot (RW) – Mississauga/Brampton Steelheads (2023-25)
Selected: 6th Round, 171st Overall (2025)
OHL Career Stats: 114 GP, 26 G, 19 A, 45 PTS, +20
Age: 18
Selected 175th overall, Gabriel Chiarot was picked by Vancouver from the Brampton Steelheads. A cousin of NHL defenseman Ben Chiarot, Gabriel enjoyed a breakout 2024-25 season, recording a career-high 35 points (21G, 14A).
Riley Patterson (C) – Barrie Colts (2023-25)
Selected: 4th Round, 125th Overall (2024)
OHL Career Stats: 132 GP, 54 G, 67 A, 121 PTS, +16
Age: 19
In his second season with the Barrie Colts, Riley Patterson had a breakout campaign, tying for the team lead in scoring with 59 points (25G, 34A) over 64 regular-season games. He added 12 points (6G, 6A) during Barrie’s deep playoff run.
Anthony Romani (RW) – North Bay Battalion (2021-25), Barrie Colts (2024-25)
Selected: 6th Round, 162nd Overall (2024)
OHL Career Stats: 223 GP, 110 G, 94 A, 204 PTS, +44
Age: 20
After being traded to the Barrie Colts midseason while still recovering from injury, Anthony Romani finished strong with 30 points (19G, 11A) in 29 games. He was a driving force in the playoffs, tallying 24 points (12G, 12A) in 16 games. Romani is set to begin the next chapter of his career with Michigan State, opting to continue his development in the NCAA.
Vilmer Alriksson (LW) – Guelph Storm (2023-25), Brampton Steelheads (2024-25)
Selected: 4th Round, 107th Overall (2023)
OHL Career Stats: 110 GP, 32 G, 36 A, 68 PTS, -5
Age: 20
Traded to the Brampton Steelheads in December, Vilmer Alriksson recorded 12 points (4G, 8A) in 17 games before an injury ended his season early. The 6-foot-6 winger is expected to make his AHL debut with the Abbotsford Canucks this fall.
Kirill Kudryavtsev (D) – Soo Greyhounds (2021-24)
Selected: 7th Round, 208th Overall (2022)
OHL Career Stats: 202 GP, 18 G, 118 A, 136 PTS, +27
Age: 21
In his first AHL season with Abbotsford, Kirill Kudryavtsev emerged as a key contributor on a Calder Cup-winning roster. He notched 26 points (5G, 21A) in 65 regular-season games and made his NHL debut before the AHL playoffs. Returning to Abbotsford, he added 10 points (1G, 9A) during their championship run.
Josh Bloom (LW) – Saginaw Spirit (2019-23, 2023-24), North Bay Battalion (2022-23)
Acquired: February 27, 2023
OHL Career Stats: 223 GP, 85 G, 101 A, 186 PTS, +19
Age: 22
A former Memorial Cup champion, Josh Bloom was acquired by Vancouver from the Buffalo Sabres in 2022. He spent the 2024-25 season primarily in the ECHL with the Kalamazoo Wings, finishing third on the team in scoring with 39 points (20G, 19A). Bloom also earned a call-up to Abbotsford, where he recorded his first AHL point in two games.
Arturs Silovs (G) – Barrie Colts (2019-20)
Selected: 6th Round, 156th Overall (2019)
OHL Career Stats: 36 GP, 3.87 GAA, .891 SV%, 16-13-2-2
Age: 24
Named the recipient of the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy, awarded to the most valuable player of the Calder Cup Playoffs, Arturs Silovs has been nothing short of dominant in his season with Abbotsford this year. The 24-year-old Latvian netminder was in goal for all 16 of Abbotsford’s postseason wins, backstopping the Canucks to the first AHL championship in the history of the Vancouver Canucks organization. In the playoffs, he stopped 695 shots and posted a 2.01 goals-against average, a .931 save percentage, and five shutouts – just one shy of the all-time AHL postseason record.
