Battalion’s Zach Wigle commits to Rochester Institute of Technology
Newly acquired North Bay Battalion overage forward Zach Wigle has committed to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) for the 2025-26 season.
Selected by the Colts in the ninth round (169th overall) of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, the Oakville, Ont., native played four seasons in Barrie, amassing 69 points (29-40–69) in 173 regular season games. Additionally, the soon-to-be 21-year-old centreman has recorded 10 points (3-7–10) in 23 playoff appearances. This season, Wigle has continued to contribute offensively, tallying 22 points (6-16–22) in 36 games with the Colts.
Located in Rochester, New York, The Rochester Institute of Technology’s men’s hockey program is part of Atlantic Hockey (AHA), and it has built a strong reputation in NCAA Division I competition under long-time head coach Wayne Wilson. RIT has won four Atlantic Hockey titles, with the most recent victory in 2024, which secured their spot in the NCAA tournament.
Wigle will join Flint Firebirds’ Evan Konyen at RIT, following Konyen’s commitment to the school earlier in December.
Wigle is set to make his North Bay Battalion debut on Thursday at home to the Kingston Frontenacs.
