STAMKOS BECOMES SIXTH ACTIVE NHL PLAYER WITH 1,100 POINTS
Steven Stamkos scored and added an assist in Thursday’s 6-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes, pushing across the 1,100 career point threshold. Stamkos joins Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Patrick Kane and Anze Kopitar as the sixth active NHL player to reach the milestone. The 33-year-old from Unionville, Ont. played in Sarnia from 2006-08 before being selected by the Lightning with the first overall pick of the 2008 NHL Draft. Stamkos has accrued his 1,101 points over 1,049 regular season games as the Lightning’s all-time scoring leader.

HARLEY’S OVERTIME WINNER CONTINUES BREAKOUT SEASON WITH STARS
Former Mississauga Steelheads defenceman Thomas Harley scored 38 seconds into overtime for the Dallas Stars on Thursday, continuing a breakout season for the 22-year-old defenceman. Having played parts of three seasons for the Stars, Harley has done big things in 2023-24, recording 10 goals, 17 assists and 27 points in 45 games while posting a plus/minus rating of plus-14. Harley is a former OHL Scholastic Player of the Year who was voted to the OHL’s third all-star team in 2018-19 and second all-star team in 2019-20. He won a silver medal with Canada at the 2021 World Juniors. Harley was Dallas’ first round (18th overall) pick in 2019.

VERHAEGHE SKATES IN 300TH NHL GAME
Florida Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe skated in his 300th NHL game on Monday, recording a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators. The Waterdown, Ont. native has now registered 117 goals and 109 assists (117-109-226) over 301 regular season games spent between the Panthers, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Playing in his fifth NHL season, Verhaeghe was originally selected in the third round (82nd overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2013 NHL Draft. The Niagara IceDogs’ second round (38th overall) pick in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, Verhaeghe played four seasons in the OHL, tallying 83 goals, 141 assists, and 224 points over 262 regular season contests.

GRIFFITH BECOMES CONDORS FRANCHISE POINT-LEADER
Former Boston Bruins fifth round 2012 NHL Draft pick Seth Griffith is now the all-time leading scorer for the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League, recording 58 goals, 134 assists, and 189 points over 222 appearances with the team. Playing in his 11th AHL season, Griffith took sole possession of the top spot in their record book Saturday with a season-high four points including two goals and two assists in a 7-3 win over the Calgary Wranglers. The former fourth round pick by the London Knights in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection played 80 games in the NHL games with Boston, Toronto, Florida, Buffalo and Edmonton. A back-to-back OHL Champion with the Knights in 2012 and 2013, Griffith spent four seasons in the OHL, registering 231 points (102-129-231) over 209 regular season contests.

MARNER RECORDS 600TH NHL POINT
Reaching 600 points in 548 games played, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner became the fastest player in franchise history to reach the milestone on January 14 after registering a goal in the Leafs’ 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Selected fourth overall by Toronto in the 2015 NHL Draft, Marner is currently playing in his eighth NHL season registering 186 goals and 414 assists. The London Knights’ first round (19th overall) pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection, Marner spent three seasons in London, recording 301 points (96-205-301) over 184 regular season contests. Crowned OHL and Memorial Cup champion in 2016, Marner earned Memorial Cup MVP, Memorial Cup Most Points Award, CHL Player of the Year, OHL Most Outstanding Player, and OHL Playoffs MVP during his final junior hockey season.
