67’s acquire 6-foot-6 centreman Kaleb Lawrence
The Ottawa 67’s added to their overage group on Tuesday, acquiring Los Angeles Kings prospect Kaleb Lawrence from the Owen Sound Attack in exchange for an eighth-round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
A native of nearby Orleans, Lawrence will play close to home with the 67’s for his overage campaign after returning from Los Angeles training camp late last week. The 6-foot-6, 221Ib. pivot was selected by LA in the seventh-round of the 2022 NHL Draft, and comes off a 37-point (16-21–37) season in 2022-23.
“Kaleb is an Ottawa native who will inject size, skill, and experience into our line-up,” said 67’s General Manager James Boyd. “We are excited to welcome Kaleb to our team, and support his continued development.”
Lawrence was originally a second-round pick by Owen Sound in 2019, but between the Covid-affected 2020-21 season and time spent dealing with injuries, he’s been limited to 91 regular season games to this point, recording 21 goals, 24 assists and 45 points along the way.
” Kaleb was good for us,” said Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “He has accomplished a lot and played hard. He did a really great job in his hockey career with us, I hope to see him move forward to being signed further.”
Lawrence skated with the 67’s on Wednesday morning, and will have his first opportunity to wear the Barber Poles on Saturday afternoon when the 67’s host the Sudbury Wolves at 3:00pm.
