67’s name Jacob Middleton captain

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa 67’s have named veteran defenceman Jacob Middleton as the team’s new captain in place of Travis Konecny.

Alternate captains will be forward Dante Salituro, defenceman Evan de Haan, and defenceman Nevin Guy.

Middleton, a 20-year-old draftee of the Los Angeles Kings, is playing his fourth season with the 67’s. He was a first-round selection of the Owen Sound Attack in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection before being acquired by the 67’s three years ago.

“Jake is a player who is always prepared and always provides a complete effort,” said Jeff Brown, coach and general manager of the 67’s. “He is a leader and provides an example for his teammates, especially the younger players on our team.”

Guy and de Haan, both from the Ottawa area, are overage players in their final season of junior hockey.

Salituro, a first-round pick by the 67’s in the 2012 OHL draft, is playing his fourth season in Ottawa. He leads the club with 23 goals and 47 points. Salituro has 96 career goals with the 67’s and 224 career points.
