Wolves Tame Hounds
The Sudbury Wolves welcomed their Northern rivals, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Wednesday for the third game of the Bell Challenge Cup. The Wolves won the rare mid-week game by a final score of 6-4 to take the lead in the Bell Challenge Cup.
The Wolves came out of the gates flying with BRADY PATAKI leading the charge, as he nearly missed on a breakaway seconds into the game. Captain DANNY DESROCHERS scored off of a rebound to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead that they carried into the first intermission. Shots on goal after 20 minutes were 14-9 in favour of the Wolves.
Dominance continued in the second period for the Wolves as BEN GARAGAN and MIKKEL AAGAARD both added a goal to make it 3-0 after two periods. The Wolves also led on the shot clock with 31-19 shots on goal.
It was a wild third period with 7 goals scored in under 8 minutes of play. KIEGAN GOETZ and GABE GUERTLER scored two quick goals to put the Greyhounds back into the game. A flurry of goals ensued as the Wolves and Greyhounds went back and forth with goals from RYAN VALENTINI, BRADY PATAKI, MIKKEL AAGAARD and ZACHARY SENYCHYN (2) from the Greyhounds. Halfway through the frame the Wolves led by a score of 6-4. The Wolves held on for the victory in the dying seconds of the game. Final shots on goal were 41-35 in favour of the Wolves.
