Wolves Sign Menna
The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that 16-year-old goaltender Matthew Menna has accepted an OHL Education Scholarship offer to play for the Sudbury Wolves organization.
The Aurora native was the first goaltender selected by the Wolves in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection and the young goaltender made a great first Impression. According to Wolves’ GM Blaine Smith, “Menna had a very good training camp and he has proven to us that he has the ability to play at the OHL level.” Smith also points to Menna’s outstanding character and maturity.
“I am thrilled to officially become a member of the Sudbury Wolves organization” notes Matthew Menna. “I would like to thank management for this opportunity and I am looking forward to a successful future as a Wolf.”
Menna is presently playing for the Mississauga Rebels Major Midget AAA team and is expected to see a lot of action this season. Menna has already been called-up by the Aurora Tigers of the OJHL as an affiliate goaltender this season.
Menna will make his OHL debut tonight in Kitchener as the youngster will back-up Wolves’ starting goaltender Sam Tanguay. Wolves’ 16-year-old goaltender Troy Timpano will miss this week’s action with an upper-body injury. Timpano is expected back in the line-up when the Wolves play their home opener on Friday, Sept. 26th against the Niagara Ice Dogs at 7:30 pm.
