Wolves Shutout by Battalion

The Sudbury Wolves closed out a business week with a rare Sunday afternoon matinee at the Sudbury Arena as they hosted the Brampton Battalion.  Unable to bury their chances against the defensive Battalion, the Wolves were shutout by a final score of 3 – 0.

After a scoreless first period, the Battalion opened the scoring at the 10 second mark of the second period on a goal from Sam Carrick.  The Battalion added to their lead just past the midway point of the third period on a penalty shot by Brett Mackie, and then added a final goal in the closing minutes of the game to win the contest by a final score of 3 – 0.

Both teams had 9 powerplay opportunities, however, neither side was able to take advantage.

Goaltender JOHAN MATTSSON returned to the net – making 26 saves on the afternoon, while his counterpart, Matej Machovsky made 24 saves to earn the shutout victory.

The Pack will now have the rest of the week to prepare for their next game which is Friday, November 25, 2011 when they host the Owen Sound Attack.  Game time is 7:35pm.
