Wolves Play 700 at Home
The Sudbury Wolves completed a five-game home stand with a convincing 8-4 victory over the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday afternoon. The win gives the Wolves a .700 winning percentage over the five-game home stretch with a record of 2 wins, 2 overtime losses and 1 shoot-out loss for a total of 7 out of 10 points. The string of points now gives the Wolves 54 points after 49 games.
The Wolves now have a record of 6-1-2-1 or a .750 winning percentage in the month of January. The Wolves will close-out the month of January on Thursday with a trip to Niagara. The Wolves now sit in 4th place in the Eastern Conference — and only four points behind third place Oshawa Generals. The Wolves have also stretched their home point streak to 13 games.
MATHEW CAMPAGNA now finds himself among the top 20 scorers in the OHL with 53 points in 48 games. The Mississauga native continues to be one of the hottest scorers in the OHL since December 1st. Linemates NICK BAPTISTE and NATHAN PANCEL have combined to form one of the best offensive lines in the OHL since December 1st. DOMINIK KUBALIK recorded a hattrick on Sunday against Windsor to give him 12 goals on the season as the Czech forward has found the mark of late.
The Wolves power play is now 5th best in the OHL while the team’s penalty killing remains 15th in the league. The Wolves’ defensive corps has also played well of late including newcomers KEVIN RAINE and CORY GENOVESE. FRANKY PALAZZESE has played every game in goal for the Wolves since the trade deadline as the Mississauga native continues to show why he is regarded as one of the best goaltenders in the OHL.
