Wolves Pick-up Point Against Gens
The Wolves wrapped up their two game road trip Friday afternoon in Oshawa for a New Year’s Day match-up, falling 3-2 to the Generals in a shoot-out.
The Wolves got off to a good start in this contest as Ryan Valentini gave the Wolves an early 1-0 lead over the Generals. Alan Lyszczarczyk and Conor Cummins picked up the assists. The Generals tied up the game at one around the half-way mark of the period. The two teams headed to the dressing rooms tied at one after the opening frame.
The Generals scored the only goal of the second period to give them a 2-1 with 15 seconds remaining in the period.
In the third, Lyszczarcayk was awarded a penalty shot half way through the frame where he made no mistake in putting the puck past the Generals goaltender Jeremeny Brodeur to tie the game up at two.
Overtime solved nothing, so this match-up headed to shoot-out to determine the winner.
Both goaltenders stood tall in net for the first three shooters, however it was Jalen Smereck who lifted the Generals past the Wolves in this contest. Final shots on goal were 40-34 in favour of the Generals. Goaltender Troy Timpano was named second star of the game.
The Wolves will now head home for a four game home-stand which kicks off Wednesday January 6th against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Game time is 7pm. Tickets are on sale now at the Sudbury -Arena Box Office, by calling /705-671-3000 or online at greatersudbury.ca/tickets.
