Wolves Name January Award Winners
The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce the winners of January’s “PLAYERS OF THE MONTH” Awards.
Travelodge Hotel Community Service Award
The January winner of the TRAVELODGE HOTEL COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD is defencemen, RYAN HANES. Throughout the month of January, Ryan attended many community events representing the Sudbury Wolves organization, including School Visits, Hospital Visits, Hockey School & media work. Ryan always volunteers his time and is a great team player. The 6’01, Kanata native had a good month on the ice as well gathering 2 goals and 4 points and was a +2 player over 13 games.
Molson Canadian Three Star Award
JOSH LEIVO is the winner of the January Molson Cup Three Star Award. In 13 games played last month, LEIVO scored 7 goals and added 6 assists for 13 points. LEIVO was named first star of the game once, second star twice and third star twice. In this past summer’s NHL Draft, LEIVO was selected in the third round (86th overall) by the TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS. He has also improved considerably this season, already surpassing last season’s point totals, with 22 games still remaining.
Campbell’s Scholastic Award
The January winner of the CAMPBELL’S SCHOLASTIC AWARD is BRODY SILK. The Iroquois Falls native attends LaSalle Secondary School, where he is enrolled in both English and Accounting. SILK, 17, is having an exceptional season both in the classroom and also on the ice. Over 36 games this season, SILK has netted 13 goals and added 10 assists. Following his suspension, he is eligible to return to the line-up February 17th against the Niagara Icedogs.
Industrial Alliance Player of the Month Award
The winner of the January INDUSTRIAL ALLIANCE PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD is overage forward, ANDREY KUCHIN. KUCHIN played in 13 games throughout the month accumulating 17 points. THE Moscow native has already surpassed his point totals from last season and currently sits among the top 25 in OHL leading scorers with 16 goals and 35 assists for 51 points in 46 games. KUCHIN was the Sudbury Wolves first round pick (47th overall) in last season’s CHL Import Draft and has found excellent chemistry playing on the same line as Wolves’ leading scorer MICHAEL SGARBOSSA.
All monthly award winners will receive their monthly awards from their respective sponsors at the Wolves’ home Games during the month of February.
