Wolves Mourn

The entire Sudbury Wolves organization is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Wolves’ star forward Rod Hinks. The Burlington native passed away at his home at the age of 41 on September 18th.
Wolves’ President Blaine Smith remembers the young Hinks as a skilled player and quality person: “I remember Sam McMaster drafting Rod in the 19th round of the 1989 draft and then this smaller forward comes in and make the team and goes on to score 47 goals and gets drafted by the Islanders. Rod was a very skilled player and just went out and did his job. We are all shocked and deeply saddened by his sudden passing at such a young age.”
Hinks finished his OHL career in Owen Sound and then went on to play for Hershey Bears of the AHL and the Johnston Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League. Hinks went to Europe and played hockey in a number of professional leagues before retiring in 2009 after playing in Germany.
All tolled, Hinks played in 14 different hockey leagues during his long career.
