Wolves Fall to Colts in Season Finale
The Wolves closed out their 2015-16 season on the road in Barrie Saturday night. DMITRY SOKOLOV scored two goals in the game, but it wasn’t enough as the Colts exploded in the third period to take an 11-4 win over the Wolves.
Justin Scott put the Colts on the board just over 6 minutes into the opening frame to take a 1-0 lead over the Wolves. Goaltender TROY TIMPANO got the start in net for the Wolves and kept the game close early on, despite being outshot 15-6 in the first 20 minutes.
In the second, the Wolves couldn’t seem to catch a break as they outshot the Colts 17 -12 in the frame. The Colts took a 2-0 lead early in the period as Dylan Sadowy scored a power play maker. DMITRY SOKOLOV then brought the Wolves within one with CONOR CUMMINS and REAGAN O’GRADY picking up the assists. The Colts added two more goals in the second, including a short-handed marker from Cordell James, to take a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.
The flood gates opening in the third period as a total of 10 goals were scored between the two clubs. MICHAEL PEZZETTA, DMITRY SOKOLOV and MACAULEY CARSON all added goals for the Wolves during the frame. Justin Scott picked up a hat trick for the Colts in their 11-4 victory. Final shots on goal were 52-28 in favour of the Colts.
With SOKOLOV’s two goals, he is now the first Wolves rookie to hit the 30-goal mark since Norm Milley in 1996-97.
