Wolves Fall 6 – 3 to Kitchener
Sudbury Wolves goaltender JOEL VIENNEAU made 50 saves on Saturday night but it wasn’t enough as the Wolves dropped a 6-3 decision to the Kitchener Rangers in Kitchener.
Vienneau, 19, played a solid game in the pipes for the Wolves as the Hearst native faced 56 Ranger shots. The Rangers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before the Wolves stormed back with three goals in two minutes to knot the game at 3’s. GREG JAMBROSICH, BENI BERISHA and NATHAN PANCEL all scored for the Wolves. PANCEL’s goal was a short-handed marker.
The Rangers put the game away with two goals in the third period and another empty-netter to make it a 6-3 final. The Rangers outshot the Wolves 23-8 in the third period and 56-31 overall.
The Wolves will look to regroup in time for the Wolves’ season opener weekend beginning Friday night when they host the MISSISSAUGA MAJORS at 7:30 pm. The Wolves will then host the BRAMPTON BATTALION on Saturday night at 7:00 pm. ATLAS COPCO will sponsor both contests.
