Wolves Edge Bulls
The Sudbury Wolves played game 2 of their final regular season road trip on Saturday night at the Yardmen Arena in Belleville with a matchup against the Bulls. Despite giving up an early lead, the Pack went on to win the contest by a final score of 6 – 3.
The Wolves got on the board early as JOSH MCFADDEN (MICHAEL SGARBOSSA) made it 1 – 0 with a powerplay goal at the 1:22 minute mark of opening frame. The Bulls tied it up just over 5 minutes later, however, JOSHUA LEIVO (SGARBOSSA, ANDREY KUCHIN) netted his 13th goal of the season in the final minute of the period to give the Wolves the 2 – 1 lead heading into the first intermission.
The Pack added to their lead at the midway point of the second period on a goal from MATHEW CAMPAGNA (JUSTIN SEFTON, FRANK CORRADO). The Bulls climbed their way back with two unanswered goals by the end of the period as the team’s headed into the third period tied 3 – 3. The Bulls outshot the Wolves 17 – 7 in the second period.
The third period was a tight affair until the 10:50 mark when rookie JEFF CORBETT (MARCUS FOLIGNO, ERIC O’DELL) scored his first OHL goal to give the Wolves the 4 – 3 lead. This goal from CORBETT ended up as the game winner as the Wolves added another goal from SGARBOSSA (KUCHIN) along with an empty net goal by MICHAEL MACDONALD to win the game by a final of 6 – 3.
JACOB RILEY had another strong performance in goal making 35 saves for his second win of the season. MICHAEL SGARBOSSA earned the First Star honours, for the second game in a row, with a goal and two assists.
The Wolves will close out the 2010 – 2011 regular season on Sunday afternoon as they travel to Ottawa to take on the 67’s. Game time is 2:00pm and you can catch the live call from STEW KERNAN by tuning into 95.5 KFM.
