Wolves Connect with Fans
The Sudbury Wolves were sent to Mississauga with outstanding support from their fans of all ages on Wednesday night.
The Wolves hosted an open-practice from 5:30-6:30 where over 400 fans watched Head Coach Trent Cull put his players through their paces. From 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., the Sudbury arena ice surface was flooded with Wolves’ fans as they skated with the Wolves’ players and wished them well against one of the top teams in the country – the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.
Wolves’ graduating players were impressed with the attention afforded to them by their admiring fans. “This is absolutely great” says Wolves’ overage goaltender ALAIN VALIQUETTE. “Sudbury fans are the best and we couldn’t ask for better support.”
“It feels great to finish my OHL career in Sudbury” states MICHAEL LOMAS. “I’ve played in a number of centres in the OHL and Sudbury is by far the best I’ve seen for fan support.”
“Our fans are outstanding” said ERIC O’DELL. “They have always treated me so well and I can see why these fans want us to win so badly. It has been a long time since Sudbury has won a championship and I’m hoping we can deliver one to them this year.”
Wolves’ captain MARCUS FOLIGNO remained on the ice right until the final buzzer talking to young fans, signing autographs and taking photos. “We are going to make these and all of our fans proud. Our goal is to win this series and we will accept nothing less. We have the greatest fans in the world and Sudbury fans have treated me so well over the past four years.”
Wolves’ owner Mark Burgess and team President/GM Blaine Smith were on hand to talk to Wolves’ season ticket holders in attendance. Complimentary coffee was served to Wolves’ fans. Several Wolves’ fans renewed their season tickets and play-off seats were reserved for the upcoming play-offs. The local media covered the community event in fine fashion and the Wolves expressed their sincere thanks to everyone that came-out to support the team.
The Wolves open the series Friday night in Mississauga before returning home on Sunday to play the Majors at 7 p.m. There are still over 1,000 seats available for Sunday’s game.
