Spicer and Peters Impress
17 year old forward COLTON SPICER was the talk of day one of the Wolves Orientation Camp.
The 6’1″ native of Fort Frances, Ontario scored a hattrick and created many offensive chances in leading his Team White to a 9-4 victory over Team Blue. SPICER was a 15th round selection of the Sudbury Wolves in the 2011 OHL Draft.
16 year old forward TYLER PETERS also scored a hattrick for Team White as the North Bay youngster showed the offensive skills that made him the leading scorer for the North Bay Trappers AAA team this season. The North Bay native was selected in the 11th round of the 2012 OHL Draft.
18 year old goaltender TAYLOR DUPUIS and 16 year old goaltender MICHAEL MUZYKA allowed just two goals each and were two of the better back-stoppers on day one. DUPUIS was a 10th round selection of the Wolves in the 2010 OHL draft while MUZYKA was recently selected by the Wolves in the 6th round.
Wolves’ 1st round selection CONOR CUMMINS was solid defensively as the Whitby native played with poise and confidence. EVAN de HAAN, selected in last year’s draft in the 2nd round showed his offensive talents and puck-handling skills on several occassions.
“It’s only day one and it’s only an orientation camp, but, a number of players have really made a great first impression” notes Wolves’ Head Coach Trent Cull. “I thought Spicer was really good today and Peters showed that he can score. We will be looking for some other players to step-up their play on Sunday morning.”
The Wolves’ Orientation Camp features 35 players, the largest Orientation Camp in team history. The Camp continues Sunday morning from 10 – 12 noon at the Countryside Arena. All players will return home after Sunday’s scrimmage.
