Steve Downie

Drafted from: York-Simcoe Express Minor Midget...won gold with Team Ontario at the 2003 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge...won gold with Canada at the 2006 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Vancouver, BC...2006 OHL Champion with Peterborough...won gold with Canada at the 2007 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Leksand, Sweden.

Steve honed his skills in the OHL playing with the Windsor Spitfires, Peterborough Petes and Kitchener Rangers. Downie also won two gold medals with Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships. Selected in the first round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers, he went to play with their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms. In 2008, Downie was traded to Tampa Bay and in February 2012, he moved to Colorado to join the Avalanche. While with the Kitchener Rangers, Steve was awarded the Charles Chalkin Memorial Trophy as the Best Performer in the 2007-08 Playoffs and the Jim Reilly Trophy for scoring champion (2006-07).
